170 bison could absorb CO2 from 2 million cars: Study
Posted On May 18th, 2024, 12:00:00 AM ISTA recent study suggests that a herd of 170 European bison, reintroduced to the Tarcu mountains in Romania, could absorb carbon emissions equivalent to nearly two million cars. This research, conducted by scientists at the Yale School of the Environment and funded by the Global Rewilding Alliance, is yet to be peer-reviewed. The study used a new model to calculate how wildlife species capture and store atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) in soils through their ecosystem interactions.
